The difference between a
bunion and a bunionette.
A bunion is a prominent bump
on the inside of the foot around
the big toe joint. This bump is
actually a bone protruding to
the inside of the foot. The area
may become swollen and sore,
making walking uncomfortable.
A bunionette is similar to a
bunion but occurs on the outside
of the foot near the little toe.
It is sometimes referred to as
“tailor’s bunion” due to the
fact that tailors once sat
cross-legged with the outside
edge of their feet rubbing on
the ground all day, resulting in
a callus at the base of the
small toe. |

Both bunions and bunionettes can cause
pain, swelling and skin irritation. And we
have the training, expertise and
leading-edge technology to alleviate your
pain and speed the healing process.
When Bunion surgery is necessary...
If non-surgical measures don’t bring
relief, we may correct the deformity with a
“bunionectomy,” in which we safely and
gently realign the bone, ligaments, tendons
and nerves to restore your toe to its proper
position. This procedure can be performed
under local anesthesia. You can be in and
out of surgery the same day, without an
overnight hospital stay.
